Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 from February 27, 2010 to Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet community located in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. In reality, the West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a huge area that extends from Lachine to the west. There is an argument that it was the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, the time she spent in the city was brief. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She aspired to be an elite dancer, however due to a rapid increase in her height, she surpassed all of her dancing partner. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inch tall. Once I had outgrown my male partners I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting. In the case of Brugel it was a nudge from one of her drama teachers at the high school who encouraged her to go towards the right path. The teacher suggested that she try her hand at a character in the school's annual production. She tried out to play the leading role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she took classes in theatre and was awarded an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Over the past 20 years she has had her in more than 60 shows and films. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (shown below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member on the show in the season 1 of the series. She was rarely seen.
